The ACP is a three-year graded program, which can be implemented for classes 6, 7 & 8 or classes 7, 8 & 9. The program consists of 48 modules (16 modules per year) where each module is of minimum 45 minutes duration. The CBSE has reviewed the contents of the ACP and has welcomed its implementation in schools (refer CBSE Circular).
Schools interested in implementing the program are required to register the school through the web site (click here to register). For KV and JNV, the schools are requested to approach their respective Regional office (RO) and/or KV and JNV headquarters.
The program implementation starts with teachers’ training for Year-1. Deputed teachers from schools are trained by ACP trainers in 2-day training program held across various places. Only trained teachers will act as facilitators for the program in schools for the specific class/year of the program. It is recommended that only those teachers who have a minimum 5 years of service left be nominated for this training. The best model recommended by us is as follows:
In year 1, if 2 teachers are trained (minimum 2 teachers – ideally 1 teacher per section), then in year 2, these 2 teachers will be trained for the next higher class to facilitate the program for children of that class. They can always facilitate children of the lower class (year 1), if necessary.
Year 1: Minimum 2 teachers and at least one teacher per additional section.
Year 2: All teachers trained for year 1 will undergo year 2 training and same number of new teachers will be sent for Year 1 training.
Year 3: all teachers trained for year 2 will undergo year 3 training and same number of new teachers will be sent for Year 3 training. Similarly, all teachers trained for year 2 will undergo year 3 training.
The 2-day training program (from 9 am to 5 pm) is a tightly packed intensive and interactive session. Thus it has to be taken seriously by teachers who are genuinely interested in conducting the program in their respective schools. Punctuality and attendance on both of days of training is to be adhered to by the teachers to be eligible to receive the attendance certificate.
Implementation:
Successful implementation of the program requires the adherence to the following:
- Regularity of classes: The school has to provide at least 16 periods in the school time table specifically earmarked for this program.
- Infrastructure: Availability of Smart-board or Projector and Computer with MS Office is essential.
- To be conducted over 3 consecutive years: Completion of the previous year’s modules before starting the current year is mandatory as this is a graded program.
- Teacher requirement: One trained teacher will be required per section of each standard, to facilitate 16 sessions of 45 minutes each. In the following year, these teachers will facilitate the same set of children in the next higher class after being trained for Year 2 and additional teachers will be trained for Year 1.
- Progress reporting: Schools are required to send module progress reports (in prescribed format) every month to designated email ids end indicating the number of ACP sessions completed in the previous month.
- ACP Kits: 2 sets of Manuals (CFT) and CDs containing both the English and Hindi PowerPoint slides will be provided each year after the training program to the schools. These materials are to be kept in the school and have to be made readily available to teachers for use during class facilitation.
- School visits: During the academic year, ACP Resource Persons will contact the school to schedule visits for class observation and provide support to the teacher. We require Principal’s support and cooperation in scheduling such visits by our Resource Persons.
